It's Not the Heat, It's the Humi... No! It''s the Heat!

As a night worker, I don't get out much in the daytime, but today I decided I needed a little retail therapy. An important birthday is approaching, actually two of them (Hi MM and CJ), and I need to come up with at least a few little tchotchkies to mark the occasions. I like to celebrate my birthday, and therefore my friends and family not only get to (they better) properly celebrate with me, but they have to put up with me celebrating theirs. It's my belief that everyone should get a toy, maybe lots of toys, no matter how old they are. So - the Flamingess ventured out of her air conditioned nest to shop. OMG! Between the hot flashes and the intense heat, I spent most of my time steaming the merchandise. I'm glad the general rule is "You break it, you buy it" and not "You sweat on it, you buy it". Being a good consumer citizen, I tried to drip only on hard surfaced items. No sense leaving soggy seconds for someone else. (Makes you think twice about what you handle, doesn't it?)

I should have expected it to be intense since it was in the 70's at 2:00am while we were out gathering the flocks and setting up this one. Wearing shorts was good, but flip flops, while cooler than sneakers, would just make too much noise. Maybe tonight I'll go barefoot (if the pavement isn't too hot.)

Even the cat is inside, draped like a rag over any cool surface he can find. I'm applying liberal doses of Bacardi Gold and Diet Coke. It might not make me cooler, but I certainly don't care as much.

We are having the same heat wave here, although today was a little cooler (85*), the humidity was through the roof. I chose today to clean out my garage/flower shop, and I sweated bullets! Never again - I'll wait until November...LOL

It's wicked hot here, and we don't really get the cooldown at night that you get in the bay area. It's 78 in my house now with the air conditioners on high. It's brutal.

It's kinda funny.... I flocked my sister's yard last year for her 40th... before I knew there were people who did it for you....

Too bad the ground was like concrete... It could have looked so much better...!

I'm visiting in Florida right now, so it's SUPPOSED to be hot! But it still sucks. LOVE your pink flamingoes in bulk! You are a woman after my own heart! Michele sent me and I'm glad she did.

It poured here all day and I think I was cold for the first time in weeks!

I love that you make such a big deal about birthdays.

Happy birthday by the way!!!

I always make a big deal also. I feel that you should have at least one day a year where you should feel special.

I hope you cool off soon!

I first heard of this several years ago but you're the first Flamingess I've had the pleasure of chatting with. Do tell, are there others like you here in Charlotte, NC?

Michele says hi by the way.

Ooooh, lots of flamingoes! My humans went to visit daddy's grandparents in Florida. They went to a place called Jungle Gardens, and some young, hand raised flamingoes played with mommy's hair!

Hello from Michele's!

Oh how I wish you were in Iowa!!! My sister loves flamingos and would get a kick out of this.

Also, how cool is doing this? I am jealous!!!

Bicardi Gold does sound like a pleasant albeit not therapeutic treatment, Flamingess. Good thinking! I usually celebrate mowing in a smiliar though lower octane fashion. I think ethanol has a definite place in hot weather "conditioning".

Michele sent me to see you and your large pink flock.
